Thoughts:
Positions 1-15 in our prospect list include guys I'm fairly certain will make the major leagues, which isn't bad. Potential Stars Include: Butler, Bautista, Huber, Aviles, Costa, Lubanski, Howell, Cota, and Burgos. Guys like Teahen, Gotay, Maier, and Murphy should be league average regulars. Gettis and Blanco should be decent bench/spot starters. Sleepers include: Kaaihue, Hughes, Kaanoi, Moore, Bass, and McFall. I like Kila a lot, the other 5 will either break out or flame out in the near future. Moore should become a decent reliever.

Quickest Contributor: Denny Bautista
Highest Upside: Billy Butler
Highest Ceiling Arm: Burgos
Anti-TINSTAAP: Howell, he profiles out as one of the most polished guys we have drafted not named Grienke.

Conclusion:
The Royals system lacks stars. It has prospects with potential but it doesn't have the firepower of the Anaheim system or the obscene depth of the Cleveland system. What it does have is a decent corps of safe, low risk contributing prospects. The depth of B grade prospects that will get a shot at the majors is encouraging. The upper tiers of the system have been purged to the major league roster with guys like: Macdougal, Hernandez, Snyder, Berroa, Harvey, Dejesus, Gobble, and Grienke over the last 2 years. The selection of Grienke in 02' in combination with the solid 03' and 04' drafts have built a foundation of solid players who must be developed into major league contributors. The raw material is here for a solid team in 2006/2007.
